Cadillac, founded in 1902 by William Murphy, Lemuel Bowen and Henry Leland has represented American luxury vehicles for over 100 years. Headquartered in Warren, Michigan Cadillac is built and shipped in over 30 countries worldwide. Cadillac is a division of General Motors Company. Cadillac was named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac who was known to have founded Detroit Michigan. In fact, the Cadillac crest, still on their logo today, is based on his coat of arms.

Cadillac is among one of the very first brands in the world. Cadillac built their name on the slogan of “Standard of the World”. Its biggest selling point was precision manufacturing and reliability. Cadillac introduced two vehicles in 1902. The Runabout and the Tonneau in October 1902. Both were two seaters powered by a single cylinder engine. Both vehicles were nearly identical to the 1903 Ford Model A and were first introduced at the New York Auto Show in January 1903. Cadillac was sold to General Motors (GM) in 1909. They became the luxury division of General Motors. Cadillac continued to build throughout the years and in 1949 they introduced a hardtop coupe. The Coupe de Ville was one of the most popular models for Cadillac. In the 1990s they introduced its first SUV, The Escalade in 1999. Most recently, Cadillac introduced a new 7-seat luxury midsize crossover SUV.

Technology and innovation have led Cadillac through the years. In 1912, Cadillac introduced the Touring Edition that debuted the invention of the electric starter saying goodbye to hand cranks. Another milestone that was first of its time, in 1943 Cadillac hired the first female automotive designer who helped reinvent their vehicle interiors. Then again in 1964, they were the first to invent personalized climate control. This brought a whole new comfort to new vehicles. In 1996, Cadillac was one of the first companies to use GPS in their new vehicles with OnStar. Leading the industry comes natural to the company.
