Volvo was founded in 1927 by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustav Larson. Volvo’s headquarters is in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo’s main line of business is auto, truck and bus manufacturing however, they also build construction equipment and marine and industrial engines. Later in 1991, Volvo introduced a new step forward towards safety but creating their Side Impact Protection System (SIPS). They later followed up with Side impact airbags in 1994. In 1998, Volvo introduced their Whiplash Protection System as well as the Inflatable Curtain.
